Board risk reporting that leads to decisions
Directors don't need more data. They need to know what is outside appetite, why, and what decision is being asked of them.
By ENKAYT Advisory
Many risk and compliance packs grow to dozens of pages of heat maps and test counts. Directors skim them, ask a few questions and approve. The report has informed nobody.
Lead with appetite
Open with the risks currently outside appetite and the trend for each. Everything inside appetite can sit in an appendix.
Ask for a decision
For each material issue, state the options and the recommendation: accept, remediate with resources, or change the strategy. A report without a decision request is an information note.
Show assurance, not activity
Replace 'we performed 240 tests' with 'controls over customer data operated effectively; two exceptions are being remediated by 30 November.'
